Dear Heart on Your Birthday Week
Dear Heart That Is Becoming What She Believes,
There is a version of me I am learning to recognize. She is not louder than I am now, not more hurried, more polished, or more certain. She is simply… steadier.
She does not question her strength when something feels heavy, and does not wait for proof before she believes in what is possible. She lives as if the evidence is already all around her.
The truth is, the evidence always has been. She just doesn’t pause enough to see it.
Finding a still point, but wait, one more thing, real quick 😅
The Evidence I Am Learning to See
I used to think strength would feel like certainty, like waking up one day and knowing, without hesitation, I can do this. But my strength has never looked like that.
It has looked like:
Getting up when my body wanted to stay down
Loving deeply even after loss
Staying present when it would be easier to escape
Choosing softness when hardness felt justified
Continuing… when no one was clapping
My strength is not loud, but it is consistent. It is in the way I keep showing up for my life, for my healing, for my son. When I really look and pause long enough to notice,
there is evidence everywhere that love is still here, too. The Artemis II astronauts mirrored that to all of us in a very bold way after returning to Earth. They saw a small earth from their perspective. I am reminding myself that the small things really are the big things.
In small moments:
A conversation that lands gently
A hand on my heart when I need grounding
The way my son looks at me when I choose patience over reaction
The quiet pull to slow down instead of rushing past my own life
Love has not left this world. It is woven into it. I am learning to see it again. To have a new perspective of joy and oneness. Of peace and balance in my home.
I Am Becoming
I used to think leadership meant having answers. Now I know true leadership means living the questions honestly.
Marshalling the beats of my heart means:
Letting my son see me try
Letting him see me rest
Letting him see me repair when I get it wrong
Letting him see that strength and tenderness can live in the same body
The example I am setting is not perfection. I am setting the example of presence. I am showing him that a woman can carry weight and still choose not to harden. She can lead without losing herself. She can believe in something better— and become it slowly, day by day.
Done Waiting for Permission
Here is what I am choosing now, the week of my 41st birthday:
I am strong in ways that cannot be taken from me
My dreams are not distant—they are forming through me
The life I hope for is not separate from the one I am living
The work I am doing—quiet, unseen, steady—is working
I am allowed to grow into the version of me I can already feel
My goals are not fragile. They are rooted goals, and roots do not rush, but they do deepen.
A Small Practice: Gathering Evidence
Tonight, I will not ask, “Am I enough?”
I will ask:
Where did I show strength today?
Where did I choose love, even quietly?
Where did I lead, even in a small way?
I will let the answers count because the life I am building is not proven in one moment of arrival. The life I am building is revealed in the evidence I am willing to see.
The Truth I Am Living Into
I am not becoming someone else. I am just returning to the woman who has been here all along, who is steady, capable, full of quiet fire. She is the woman who does not need to chase her future because she is already walking toward it. She is a woman who knows what is meant for her is not out of reach. It is unfolding through the way she lives today.
Stay close to your own becoming. It is already closer than you think,
